Greenburgh Insider: 2 easy ways to get vaccine Friday & Sat in Fairview & Elmsford.

Teen Covid 19 Task Force to address hesitancy. Students being hired by Theodore Young Community Center to outreach to neighborhoods with low vaccination participation.

TWO EASY VACCINE OPTIONS THIS WEEKEND IN GREENBURGH.

The Supervisor’s Teen COVID-19 Task Force begins work addressing hesitancy.

GREENBURGH, NY__ With great disparity in vaccination rates still in evidence between pockets of Greenburgh, the Town has several initiatives to help, dose by dose and call by call.

On Friday, May 14 from 2 to 8 pm in the Community Room at the 100 Manhattan Ave apartment complex, Greenburgh and Ossining EMS will be administering 100 Moderna doses to anyone over the age of 18. Walk-ins are welcome or you can call  914-989-1770 or email jrosenberg@greenburghny.com.

On Saturday, May 15 from 10 am - 2 p.m., Mr. Bubbles Carwash on Route 9A, Elmsford, provides a unique opportunity to get your car washed and get the shot while you wait. Mr. Bubbles, through a collaboration with Ahma RX pharmacists and #VaxUpWestchester volunteers, will have Moderna shots available to anyone on site, even if you aren’t getting your car washed. But if you do, you can enjoy a $2 discount coupon on anything over the standard wash. Volunteers are also happy to provide information on vaccines in English and Spanish, and help you book appointments for anyone age 12+ at other sites nearby.

Greenburgh’s #VaxUpWestchester campaign is supported by over 80 volunteers and, now, teenagers employed by the Theodore D. Young Community Center. The local teens just started their roles yesterday with an orientation introducing them to the life-changing implications of this effort. They will soon be calling residents in 10607 and 10603 zip codes to conduct a vaccination survey and connect people with appointment assistance as needed.

Town Supervisor Paul Feiner welcomed the teens with these encouraging words: “You could put on your resume that you really made a difference in the lives of many people. Right now, we have a very low percentage rate of people who have been vaccinated in this area. What we really need you to do is give this everything you have,” declaring that the teens who set up the most vaccines will be honored as town heroes. “I can’t think of anything more important than what you’re doing.”

#VaxUpWestchester is funded by grants from UJA-Federation of New York and the Westchester Community Foundation - A Division of New York Community Trust.
