The Yonkers City Council held a City Council Stated Meeting today, April 27, 2021, as well as a Real Estate Committee Meeting and a Community Services and Mental Health Committee Meeting. All items on these agendas appear below, as well as the decisions taken by the City Council.
City Council Stated Meeting
1. Local Law - Authorizing lease of certain city properties for solar energy (Adopted 7-0)
2. Special Ordinance - Authorizing acceptance of Federal 2020 ESG Grant Year 46 funding from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development in the amount of $301,103 and amending the City of Yonkers Grant Budget FY 2020/2021 (Adopted 7-0)
3. Special Ordinance - Authorizing acceptance of Federal 2020 Home Grant Year 46 funding from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development in the amount of $1,223,062 and amending the City of Yonkers Grant Budget FY 2020/2021 (Adopted 7-0)
4. Special Ordinance - Authorizing acceptance of Federal 2020 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Year 46 Funding from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development in the amount of $3,565,412 and amending the City of Yonkers Grant Budget for FY 2020/2021 (Adopted 7-0)
5. Special Ordinance. -Authorizing acceptance for additional federal 2019 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) year 45 CV3 supplemental funding from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development in the amount of $2,242,970 and amending the City of Yonkers Grant Budget for FY 2020/2021 (Adopted 7-0)
6. Resolution - Urging the Yonkers IDA to require projects that are provided payment in lieu of taxes (pilot) agreement to utilize local minority and women owned business enterprises (Adopted 7-0)
7. Resolution - In support of H.R.40 to establish a commission to study and develop reparation for African Americans (Adopted 4-3 - with Minority Leader Breen, and Councilmen Merante and Rubbo voting no)
8. Resolution - Reappointing Joseph D'Lando to the Yonkers Board of Assessment and Review (Adopted 7-0)
Real Estate Committee Meeting 1. A General Ordinance amending Article XV of Chapter 43 of the Code of the City of Yonkers entitled “Affordable Housing” (Moved to Rules Committee)
Community Services and Mental Health Committee Meeting
1.A Resolution of the City Council of Yonkers Requesting the introduction of certain legislation to provide for the addition of credit to the Civil Service Exams of certain members of the Yonkers Police and Fire Departments (Moved to Rules Committee) 2.A Resolution of the City Council of Yonkers Calling on Mayor Spano and his Administration to Pursue Amendments to the Residency Requirements and Preferences for Applicants for the Position of Yonkers Firefighter and Police Officer (Kept in Committee pending edits) 3. A Resolution of the City Council of Yonkers Declaring the Month of April 2021 as “Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month” in the City of Yonkers (Moved to Rules Committee) 4.
