CITY OF YONKERS TO ANNOUNCE LAUNCH OF FIRST COMMUNITY SOLAR PROJECTS IN THE CITY.
City Kicks-off Community Solar Campaign with Sustainable Westchester to Provide Residents with Renewable Energy Benefits.
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano will join Sustainable Westchester and its partners Wednesday, April 28 at 10AM at 200 Executive Blvd. to announce the launch of its Community Solar Campaign with the City of Yonkers. Five new Community Solar projects - the first of their kind in the city - are being constructed by solar developer, G&S Solar, on buildings owned by Robert Martin Company in the Executive Boulevard Area.
The project will offer savings of up to 10% off electricity bills to residents who subscribe, while further greening the local electricity supply. The initiative also aims to prompt the development of more Yonkers-based solar facilities and will aid in the state’s ambitious climate goals to triple solar energy production by 2025.
