LEG. ALVARADO SHINES LIGHT ON VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES, COMMUNITY HELP DURING PANDEMIC.
White Plains, NY — Leg. Jose Alvarado is spotlighting two more opportunities for local residents to help out and to get help, as part of an on-going campaign to highlight ways neighbors are helping neighbors during the COVID-19 pandemic.
St. Joseph's Medical Center, at 127 South Broadway, has been at the heart of the community's responds to COVID-19 for a year. Now community residents can help the hospital respond. St. Joseph's has volunteer opportunities in the gift shop, in food transportation, in filing and in doing special projects.
For more information, please contact Maria Callarane at 914-378-7536.
In addition, for those who are facing hunger in Yonkers, the Hospital will be hosting the Feeding Westchester Mobile Food Pantry at Vark Street on Tuesday, April 13, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Our small businesses are suffering from the pandemic. You can help as we rebuild our local economy by volunteering with the South Broadway Business Improvement District.
The BID has opportunities in business administration -- working with its merchant database and other office duties. It also needs help with a tree planter beautification project and needs event volunteers to help hand out flyers and menus.
For more information please contact Ariana Deller at 914-920-9743.
Leg. Alvarado (D-Yonkers) said, "Government must continue to play an indispensable role in helping our community rebuild in the wake of the pandemic, and we will. But for those of us who are in a position to help with a little bit of our free time, we can do so much good for our neighbors by lending a hand. I encourage everyone in the community to reach out, either to help or if they need help to reach out to these and other local institutions."
