With the IRS extending the federal tax-filing deadline to May 17, the AARP tax-aide service at Greenburgh's Theodore D. Young Community Center for seniors has been extended to Saturday, May 15. The TDYCC has about 70 tax packets available for anyone who needs to file for the last year or two.
Taxpayers will be required to:
- Pick-up and sign for a Taxpayer Packet from the TDYCC lobby or can request to have one mailed to them by AARP through US Mail.
- Complete all required forms in the packet and gather the tax-related forms specified in the packet.
- Schedule an appointment with the Tax Aide team, using the instructions in the packet.
- Provide a contact number to the Tax Aide team and plan to return within seven days to pick up the tax return.
Appointments -- with mask use and social distancing enforced -- will be scheduled Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:30 am - 3 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 am - 1 p.m. in Classroom AB in the TDYCC located at 32 Manhattan Ave, White Plains. For any questions, you can call contact Tina Harper at 914-989-3620 or email tharper@greenburghny.com.
We are fortunate to be able to offer this program to seniors. Thank you AARP.
