Earlier today, Mayor Patterson-Howard provided an update on the Verizon Outage impacting Mount Vernon. You can view that update here. A fire has damaged part of Verizon's network equipment at the central office in Mount Vernon. Currently, service to about 900 customers remains impacted. This includes some FIOS, traditional phone services, broadband and TV services.
The Mayor's office has been engaged with Verizon on providing updates on when service will be restored and estimates are between midnight and Monday morning.
If you are a Verizon customer and you remain out of service you should contact 1-800-VERIZON (1-800-837-4966). Any customer who has been impacted by this service disruption may receive a service credit.
At 8pm tonight Mayor Patterson-Howard will be giving an update on www.facebook.com/MayorSPH about the Verizon outage and relevant city & COVID updates.
