Yonkers Insider: Statement from Yonkers City Council Majority Leader Corazon Pineda Issac 2nd District.

 

I hope that you have had a wonderful week, and can now look forward to enjoying your weekend. Yesterday, my office attended a Virtual Housing Workshop hosted by Westchester Disabled on the Move, with guest speakers from the Hudson Valley Justice Center and Legal Services of the Hudson Valley. A lot of vital information was shared in regard to housing, including information about housing assistance programs and resources available to those in need. As a reminder, New York State has taken many steps to protect its residents and to preserve tenants' rights. For example, the Moratorium (halt) on COVID-19 related tenant evictions has been extended until May 1, 2021. Furthermore, the COVID-19 Rent Relief Program has been reinstated to help residents cope with the financial burdens that they are currently facing. I encourage everyone who is struggling with housing issues to reach out to Hudson Valley Justice Center (914) 308-3490) or Legal Services of the Hudson Valley (914) 376-3757 for help and guidance.
