Dear Friend,
Today we remember and honor Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., one of the world's most outstanding agents for social change.
As we remember Dr. King Jr.'s legacy, I recently learned that New York will designate a historical site dedicated to black history this year. Philipse Manor Hall in Downtown Yonkers will be transformed into a museum available to the public to experience. The museum will include exhibits interpreting enslavement, the Underground Railroad, emancipation, the Great Migration, and the civil rights movement.
I look forward to the museum and its rich history.
As we remember the legacy of Dr. King, Jr., I ask that you please continue to support his message of nonviolence, equality, justice, and peace. Doing so will create a better future for ourselves, our families, and our great City of Yonkers.
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."
-- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Sincerely,
MIKE SPANO
Mayor
