I hope you have had an amazing week here in our beautiful city. City Hall will be closed on Monday, January 18, 2021 for a very important reason - it is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will celebrate the life, accomplishments and impact of a very selfless man who has helped our society progress so much, and left us with the groundwork for us to improve race relations and sense of community even more. There will be many events and volunteer opportunities for the MLK Day of Service with Volunteer New York and a virtual celebration with the Nepperhan Community Center. Amidst the turmoil and division in our country today, this holiday lets us know that the job is not finished in ensuring equality for all.
Furthermore, the pandemic has continued to hit us very hard here in Yonkers. Numbers are rising very rapidly, so please do your part to protect yourself and your neighbor. Here is a chart with the amount of COVID cases in our city, in terms of both raw counting numbers and percentage change.
