I just tried calling to see if I'd be put on hold for hours and was pleasantly surprised: only a few minutes wait. The State Department of Health also has a general phone number: at 1-866-881-2809. You can also email questions to dohweb@health.ny.gov. Some seniors, especially the very frail elderly and disabled, may need assistance completing the on line form or even scheduling appointments by phone. I plan to ask the Greenburgh senior programming staff to provide assistance to those who need extra help. We want our seniors not to be stressed by the process.
