I am excited to announce that Wednesday night I secured the nomination of the Yonkers Democratic Committee, to continue serving as the County Legislator for the 16th District. Particularly as I am facing a Primary challenge, this nomination is critical and I am so grateful to the District Leaders for their confidence and support.
If the last 10 months has taught us anything, it is that our quality of life is precious and cannot be taken for granted. COVID-19 has drastically changed our daily lives, and it is more important than ever that the residents of 16th District have a leader they can depend on. A leader who has fought to help fund the non-profits that are assisting families through this pandemic. A leader who has successfully initiated a pilot program that guarantees legal representation to those facing eviction. A leader who has prioritized focusing on our most vulnerable populations, working to ensure our homeless shelters are following COVID-19 protocols.
But it’s not just about legislation and budgets. More than anything, we are a community.
As many of you know, I live in the middle of my District with my wife Tai and son Joshua. As a husband and father, it is my job to protect my family, always. That means joining with community members, as I did last summer, to stand up and push back against racial injustice. That means penning a letter with my colleagues condemning the disgraceful January 6th attack on the Capitol Building and our democracy. It means fighting to increase diversity in public safety.
As I mentioned earlier, I am facing a June primary. I still have so much I want to do on the Board of Legislators, but I need your help to ensure I have that opportunity. Please join the effort by:
1) Signing up to volunteer. Petitioning will start soon and although the number of signatures required will be fewer due to the pandemic, I will still need help from volunteers. And although we don't quite know what voter outreach will look like yet, I know an army of volunteers will be critical to getting my message out.
3) Making a contribution. Campaigns are expensive, and this one will be no exception. Please consider a contribution today.
Want to contribute AND attend a fun virtual event? Join me for my February 9th "Comedy and Conversation"... after all, who couldn't use some laughs these days?
Finally, please stay in touch. Your kind words keep me going. Your ideas are appreciated. Your feedback makes me a better legislator.
I look forward to continuing the conversation.
With thanks,
