It is our hope that you and yours are well during these unprecedented times.
We are writing today to update you on the status of the Yonkers St. Patrick’s Parade on McLean Avenue.
When the parade was postponed this past March at the beginning of the pandemic, we thought rescheduling our date to mid-September was more than enough time to safely hold the annual celebration of our Irish heritage. As the situation has dragged on, obviously, the 2020 parade was not meant to be. As we look forward into 2021, the uncertainty remains.
Our traditional parade date next year would be Saturday, March 20, 2021. Presently, the predictions of having returned to sufficient normalcy to safely hold the parade on that date are all over the place. Therefore, the parade Board has decided to defer a definitive decision on our options until early January, when hopefully the situation will be clearer.
Given that the 2020 parade was so well laid out and ready to go at the point that it was cancelled, it is our intention to utilize those plans as the basis for the 2021 celebration. Grand Marshal Patricia McCrudden and her Aides remain ready to lead us when we have a new date.
We will keep you posted as things unfold and we thank you for your continuing support.
Stay safe and be well.
