Yonkers Insider: New York League of Conservation Report.

Here’s what we’re reading this week:

NYLCV Reviews OneNYC 2020 Progress Report: The NYC Mayor’s Office recently released the long-awaited OneNYC 2020 Progress Report. While New York City’s social justice agenda is on the right track with the majority of its initiatives, there is still a long way to go to reach its environmental goals.

Green Tips: Thanksgiving 2020: Thanksgiving is just around the corner! Check out our tips for making the holiday more eco-friendly.

NYLCV and Partners Push for Investments in Environmental Programs: More than 125 organizations including NYLCV joined together to hold a virtual lobby day in support of a range of environmental programs. Cutting environmental funding in 2021 would be pennywise and pound foolish, and we were glad to find on November 10th that so many of our state legislators agree.

News Roundup:

The Biden Administration could give the green light to move congestion pricing forward - one of NYLCV’s priorities. Congestion pricing, which has been delayed by the Trump Administration, will reduce traffic, slash vehicle emissions, and raise revenue for mass transit investments. (NY1

The Town of Yorktown in Westchester will soon have a new solar energy project that will reduce emissions and provide clean energy, an energy storage system, and four electric vehicle charging stations. (Yonkers Tribune)

As part of the lobby day in support of environmental programs, our president Julie Tighe joined WAMC Radio to discuss why an Environmental Bond Act, and a fully funded Environmental Protection Fund and Clean Water Infrastructure Program are so important. (WAMC)

The NYLCV-led Clean Fuels NY coalition sent a letter to state leaders asking them to pass a clean fuel standard for the transportation sector (Spectrum News

The New York Power Authority will collaborate with the Electric Power Research Institute to research the use of shipping containers to grow produce during the cold seasons. The project will provide food for a local food bank and reduce emissions by using a low-energy, local indoor farming method. (Niagara Frontier Publications)

A sewage infrastructure project - the Bay Park Conveyance Project - in Nassau County will help reduce nitrogen pollution and improve local ecosystems by transporting sewage from East Rockaway to an ocean outfall pipe in Wantagh. (Newsday)

Eleven million dollars is available to build out the state's network of fast charging stations to support wider adoption of electric vehicles. The Direct Current Fast Charger program will scale up electric vehicle infrastructure in areas of the state where access to fast charging stations is limited, and will also prioritize improving the availability of charging infrastructure in disadvantaged communities. (Governor Cuomo’s Pressroom)

Sincerely,

New York League of Conservation Voters
