Yonkers Insider: Statement from Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano.

This week we learned the Yonkers Public Schools will receive its state funding for September. Although, there is still uncertainty about future aid. Our lobbying efforts have paid off to this point, but we can’t back down now.

I thank Governor Andrew Cuomo, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, and State Senator Shelley Mayer, Education Chair, for preventing the delay of this month’s much-needed aid.

We will keep an open dialogue with our state delegation and continue our advocacy efforts to keep our schools afloat and avoid further devastating cuts.
