Dear Friends and Neighbors,
After the last series of storms that caused widespread power outages in our County, a task force of elected officials sent to the Public Service Commission a report documenting Con Ed’s failures in planning for and responding to those events. The three biggest complaints were lack of proper planning, poor communications with customers, and insufficient local repair crews. The PSC ordered ConEd to do better.
The day after Isaias blew through our region, I am beginning to hear concerning reports that ConEd still lacks a clear idea of when power will be restored, and is waiting for out of state workers to arrive.
If these reports are true, Con Ed may be in violation of the PSC order — wrongly letting tens of thousands of Westchester residents sit in the dark, with rotting food and medicine in their refrigerators. The Governor is already ordering an investigation, and Westchester County will do everything it can to insure that the State learns the full extent of the problems faced by our residents; and that our utilities be brought to book.
Sincerely,
