Many states in the United States place convenient voting boxes outside buildings so voters don't have to worry about postal service errors or contracting Covid-19 by going into a polling place. So far, NYS has not authorized voting boxes to be placed outside municipal buildings. I am making a formal request to the NYS and Westchester County Board of Elections asking NYS to authorize the town to place a secure voting box outside of Greenburgh Town Hall for voters to place their absentee ballots in 24 hours a day. Many residents have contacted me expressing concern about catching COVID or about the reliability of the postal service. I think we can get around the prohibitions because NYS allows voters to drop off their ballots inside early voting locations during voting hours. If a box was placed outside the early voting locations the ballots can be picked up daily by Bd of Elections officials.
