YONKERS, NY – September 3, 2020–Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced the City will commemorate 9/11 with a special citywide virtual remembrance ceremony on Friday, September 11th to remember and honor the 26 Yonkers residents who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
The City’s remembrance ceremony will take place at the Yonkers 9/11 Waterfront Memorial (Water Grant St.) at 8:30AM along with invited elected officials and families of the September 11 victims.
“Organizing this year’s 9/11 ceremony is different from past years. Despite the pandemic, the City of Yonkers remains committed to ensuring our community never forgets what happened on that fateful day to our nation and most importantly to our 26 Yonkers residents,” said Mayor Spano. “We must never forget and always honor.”
