FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CITY OF YONKERS CANCELS CITY SPONSORED EVENTS IN AN EFFORT TO CONTAIN THE SPREAD OF COVID-19.
YONKERS, NY – August 6, 2020 – Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced several cancellations of city-sponsored events in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus.
“As our community continues to manage the spread of COVID-19, Yonkers will cancel the city’s three high traffic sponsored events to limit public interaction among residents, especially ones involving those who are at high risk of contracting the virus,” said Mayor Spano. “The safety and well-being of our residents is my top priority, as we continue to monitor the impact of this pandemic, we will also reassess future programs and events in the City of Yonkers.”
Effective immediately, the following scheduled events will be canceled:
Ø 7th Annual Yonkers Arts Weekend (YAW)-Saturday, October 3, 2020 & Sunday, October 4, 2020
Ø 2020 Tour de Yonkers-Sunday, September 27, 2020
Ø 2020 Yonkers Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K-Sunday, October 18, 2020
