Westchester County Youth Board Acknowledges Seven Teens for Social Justice Initiatives.
(White Plains, NY) – The Westchester County Youth Board will host the 2020 Westchester County Virtual Youth Awards via Facebook live on July 9 at 5:30p.m. The event will recognize seven youth for their civic engagement and efforts to promote equity and social justice. The event will also include remarks by Westchester County Executive George Latimer, Dr. DaMia Harris Madden, Executive Director of the Westchester County Youth Bureau, and live performances by local youth artist, Seleh Armstrong.
Latimer said: “There is a growing number of Westchester County youth who demonstrate on a daily basis their contributions to solving local, national and global social justice issues. I am proud of these young people and am thankful that even in the time of COVID we can congratulate them for all they have accomplished.”
President of the Westchester County Youth Board Jan Fisher said: “This year has been so challenging for a variety of reasons but the members of the Westchester County Youth Board felt compelled to recognize the work and amplify the voices of young people who are seeking to advance social justice.”
