May 23, 2020
Dear Town of Greenburgh Residents,
This week, we bring announcements about the Memorial Day motorcade, summer camp cancellations, additional tennis court openings, new safety traffic light approval, COVID-19 antibody testing, important voting information and reminders.
Memorial Day, Monday, May 25: In observance of Memorial Day, the Hartsdale Fire Department will honor our veterans with a motorcade while maintaining social distancing. The motorcade will begin at the Hartsdale Train Station and will conclude at the Greenburgh Police Department. The motorcade will begin at 10:30 am.
Summer Camps: The Department of Community Resources (DCR) and Parks & Recreation (DPR) have cancelled this year’s summer camp programs due the pandemic. After a thorough review of the CDC guidelines, operating summer camps during this pandemic would not achieve the positive outcome we seek. DCR and DPR hope to provide alternative recreational activities.
Tennis Courts: This Saturday, May 23, the Anthony F. Veteran Park tennis courts will open. You must have a valid resident uni-card or a paid membership for the season to play.
New Safety Pedestrian System: We are excited to announce that NYSDOT has approved a HAWK pedestrian system at the intersection of Route 100 (Central Avenue) and Lawton Avenue, in front of Sacred Heart Church. Particularly in light of the terrible incidents at this location, we are grateful to the State for permitting this vital safety system.
COVID-19 Antibody Testing: On May 18, Westchester Medical Center Health (WMC Health) opened testing for the COVID-19 antibody to the public at the Westchester County Center. Testing is available by appointment. If you are interested, call (914) 326-2060, Monday-Saturday, from 8:30 am – 6:00 pm, for screening and to make an appointment. Results will be available within 48 hours.
