Statement from Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano.


Friends, 

This week, we honored one of our own, Yonkers Firefighter Patrick Joyce. Marking the 10th anniversary of his in line of duty death, the City paid tribute to this "Firefighter's Firefighter" by renaming the corner of New School St. and Palisade Ave., Patrick Joyce Way.

The overwhelming support and attendance of the event from the community and Yonkers Firefighters is a testament to the life and legacy Pat left us 10 years later. Special thanks to the Uniformed Fire Officers Association and IAFF Local 628 for coordinating this wonderful tribute.

The City of Yonkers continues to keep the Joyce Family in our hearts, especially wife Tara and daughters Charlotte and Isabella. Thank you for being part of this special day celebrating the life of our Yonkers Bravest.

We salute Pat and his family for his ultimate sacrifice.
