Richard Sweeney has been a lawyer for 34 Years and was appointed to the Yonkers City Court Judge Bench by Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone in 2010. He had 16 years working as Assistant County Attorney with the Westchester County Attorney's Office working in Family Court and Contracts Bureau's and is currently a Trial Lawyer in Yonkers and Westchester County where he conducts misdemeanor and felony jury and non-jury trials and conducts landlord and tenant cases before Yonkers City Court. He also was an Administrative Law Judge for Westchester Human Rights Commission from 2016 - 2018.
He is also very active in the community: Active member of Access Westchester, Inc., Former President, Secretary, and Board Member of Westchester Disabled on the Move, Inc., Member of the National Federation of the Blind, American Council for the Blind, Yonkers Lions Club, Former member of Yonkers Rotary Club, Volunteer for Gorton High School mock trial competition and J-Law project. Richard Sweeney Is s a very active and involved person in the City of Yonkers and County of Westchester.
Richard Sweeney is very involved in the Yonkers Community and Rich is an inspiration for all he does for our City and also for being who he is and that is a giving and a very nice person, who truly cares about our City of Yonkers: Rich is a Life long resident of Yonkers, His son went to Gorton High School, He is Part of an extended family with relatives employed and formerly employed as a Yonkers Public School Teacher, Teamsters Local 456, Yonkers Firefighters, as well as being a Teamster with Local 456 himself. He has been blind since age 28, he is an inspiration in all does to make his contribution to society, His Grandfather, John Dillion, was a New York Supreme Court Judge, He has been a Ironman Triathlete and also has been an Eagle Scout, Boy Scouts of America.
