YONKERS MAYOR SPANO TO LAUNCH ‘YONKERS COUNTS CENSUS 2020’ & CITY’S COMPLETE COUNT COMMITTEE.
Mayor Mike Spano, along with United States Census Bureau representatives and key Yonkers community stakeholders, will gather Friday, June 14 at 10:15AM, at Yonkers City Hall, to announce the City of Yonkers’ efforts in ensuring city residents participate in next year’s upcoming U.S. Census.
In March 2020, the Census Bureau will begin mailing invitations to respond to nearly every household in the country. Each household will have the option of responding online, by mail or by phone. April 1, 2020 marks Census Day, when Complete Count Committees urge households who did not respond to take the census survey, assuring them it’s safe, easy and important.
Mandated by the U.S. Constitution, the census counts every resident in United States every decade. The information acquired effects state representation in Congress and federal funding distribution to states and local communities.
