Dear Neighbor,

I hope you and your families had a fantastic week. As the Assembly continued to perform its legislative duties, I was proud to join my colleagues in advancing legislation which serves the best interests of my constituents and the people of the 90th Assembly District.

In Albany, I was proud to meet with an assortment of groups to discuss legislation currently on the table for the Assembly. I met with the New York Physical Therapy Association to discuss amending insurance law regarding co-pays, changing New York's archaic worker's compensation laws, and legislation changing requirements for the recertification of physical therapists statewide. I also met with the Center for New York Neighborhoods to discuss what the state can do to generate more inclusive housing and economic development in our communities. I also met with the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association and talked about policing reforms for departments across New York, and legislation regarding a potential park police merger for the New York State Police, the availability and revision of 3/4 disability law, 20-year retirement, and the conditions of release following a 24-hour arrest. I also met with a group composed of families and advocates in our district, Mom's Demand Action. It was great to discuss what we can do to keep guns out of the hands of people who shouldn't have them, and the legislative push to ensure that another senseless tragedy such as the one which manifested itself in Yonkers recently never happens again

In Yonkers, I attended events which promoted the best that our district has to offer. I was proud to join Mayor Mike Spano at a commemoration ceremony at Montessori 31. I also joined the Enrico Fermi Society of Yonkers at their scholarship breakfast and presented citations to recipients for academic excellence. I was also proud to attend and recognize honorees at the Hudson River Community Association, Westchester Black Bar Association, and Westchester Young Democrats Galas. I'm in perpetual awe of all the incredible work and talent found in our sliver of New York State!

All in all, I'm proud of the work we've done and what we continue to do on behalf of the people of the 90th Assembly District and New Yorkers statewide. I hope you and your loved ones have a fantastic and memorable Mother's Day Tomorrow!

Best,

Assemblyman Nader Sayegh
Week in Review
This week the Assembly recognized our fabulous interns! Our district was represented well by our intern Katherine Pozo! Katherine is a Yonkers native and Saunders Trades and Technical High School alum who is currently a Junior at the State University of New York's University at Albany. Katherine exemplified true leadership, taking stances on polarizing issues, showcasing her dexterity of parliamentary procedure, and embodying the professionalism of the legislative body. I'm proud to have this future leader on our staff!

On Thursday, I was proud to join Mayor Mike Spano, Superintendent Quezada, and Councilman Sabatino in attending the commemoration ceremony at Montessori School 31. William C. Tagliaferri lived his life serving his country and community. This garden is a fitting tribute to a man who lived such a storied life, and it will serve the community he loved for years to come.

Also on Thursday, I had the honor of attending the Westchester Black Bar Association's Gala. Congratulations to all of the award recipients, especially our fantastic Attorney General Tish James!

On Friday, I had the privilege of standing alongside our local leaders in welcoming Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar to the Yonkers Public Schools! Amy Klobuchar isn't only the first 2020 Presidential Candidate to visit our public schools but the first ever! Amy made a point of recognizing that Yonkers is a prime example of a problem confronting school districts nationwide, which is the deteriorating condition of facilities. I hope this issue reverberates with all other candidates in the race, and I wish her the best in her campaign for the presidency!
On Wednesday, I was proud to join the Purchase College community in honoring outgoing president Thomas J. Schwarz for his contributions to our community and academia. Congratulations Thomas, and we wish you the best in retirement!

Had the pleasure of attending the Westchester Young Democrats Gala alongside Congressman Eliot Engel, Former City Council President Chuck Lesnick, and judicial candidate Elena Goldberg Vasquez last night! Westchester’s Young Democrats chapter is one of the most active chapters in the state, lending its organization skills from races in New York City to the Capital Region. We’re grateful for their dedication and everything they’ve done to help Democrats get elected statewide. Congratulations to the new Executive Board and all of the honorees!
Members of my staff were in attendance for a ceremony recognizing the great staff at the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center here in Yonkers! Thank you for all you do to take care for our most vulnerable
Yesterday, I also attended the Hudson River Community Association's Spring Gala! We're thankful for for everything they do to advocate for their constituents, and I can't wait to join them at their next community meeting!
Spending a wonderful afternoon with my lovely wife, my incredible daughter and son-in-law, my beloved Mother and my wonderful Grandson!
