Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and Assemblyman Nader Sayegh continued the statewide tour with a visit to the Yonkers Police Athletic League (PAL) Facility committing one million dollars for necessary facility repairs and youth services. This non-profit offers essential recreational, educational, and social programs for youth. We toured the PAL center with Executive Director Marisol Mancebo and witnessed firsthand the enormous benefits the PAL has to offer for our youth and community.
Additionally, Assemblyman Sayegh joined City Council President Lakisha Collins-Bellamy on her Second Annual Ice Cream and Fun Activities Day at Lennon Park in Yonkers. The event was brimming with energy, featuring family-friendly activities, food, live entertainment, and educational displays.
Furthermore, held a meeting with Chuck Bell Representative of Consumer Reports Agency right here in Yonkers with regards to my legislation advocating for shopping centers and businesses to provide paper coupons in addition to digital when advertising sales of specials. Many such businesses currently only provide digital coupons which makes it difficult for many seniors and others who dont have the means and awareness to utilize digital.
Moreover, I was pleased to attend the Ukrainian Flag Raising and Independence Celebration at the Yonkers City Hall Unity Fountain. Met Ukrainian Community Leader Walter Kozicky and members of the Ukrainian Committee representing St. Michael’s Ukrainian Church, SUMA Federal Credit Union, and the Ukrainian Center.
I again call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza! I urge all involved parties to engage in negotiations for a lasting peace agreement, which includes the release of all hostages and prisoners. Additionally, it is imperative that the international community promptly addresses the hunger, starvation, and displacement affecting the entire population of Gaza. From the start of this conflict, over 40,000 have died, 100,000 are injured, and 2 million Palestinians have been displaced from their home. This must stop immediately! |
