At Yonkers City Hall, I joined the Indian Independence Day celebration, alongside members of the Indian-American Community, where the flag of India was raised at the Unity Fountain. This event highlighted the community's pride and solidarity, celebrating their cultural heritage and the significance of India’s independence.
Attending the Yonkers Police Department Annual National Night Out Celebration. This wonderful event, sponsored by the Yonkers Police Department is a testament of the Department’s commitment to promoting greater Police-Community cooperation, collaboration, and respect. The event was brimming with energy, featuring family-friendly activities, food, live entertainment, and educational displays. It was a great opportunity to connect with local police officers of all four precincts in Yonkers and see firsthand the strong Community-Police Relationships in action.
Moreover, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and I will continue the Assembly’s statewide tour with a visit to the Yonkers Police Athletic League (PAL) Facility. This non-profit offers essential recreational, educational, and social programs for youth. We will tour the PAL center with Executive Director Marisol Mancebo and witness firsthand the enormous benefits the PAL has for our youth and community.
I again call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza! I urge all involved parties to engage in negotiations for a lasting peace agreement, which includes the release of all hostages and prisoners. Additionally, it is imperative that the international community promptly addresses the hunger, starvation, and displacement affecting the entire population of Gaza. From the start of this conflict, over 40,000 have died, 100,000 are injured, and 2 million Palestinians have been displaced from their home. This must stop immediately! |
