Toll evaders unfairly push the costs of upkeep for vital roads, bridges, and tunnels onto the rest of us. To crack down on violators, I helped pass tough measures against fake and obscured license plates — and progress is being made. As the result of a recent joint law enforcement operation, State and local law enforcement have impounded 1,540 vehicles, made 339 arrests, and issued 12,007 summonses for illegally evading tolls to drivers who owe more than $12.5 million in unpaid tolls and fees.
