We are thrilled to share the success of the Yonkers Yoga Festival, a wonderful celebration of wellness and community spirit held at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers on Thursday, June 27th. This inspiring event was meticulously organized by our dedicated Constituent Services and Yoga & Wellness Specialist, Chandra Sookdeo.
The festival offered a number of activities aimed at promoting physical and mental well-being. Participants had the opportunity to experience an enlightening Yoga Asana class led by the esteemed Chairman of the Global Yoga Community, Guruji Dileepkumar Thankappan. His expert instruction and deep knowledge of yoga resonated with attendees, enriching their understanding and practice.
We were honored to host distinguished guests such as Senator Shelley B. Mayer and Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins, whose presence underscored the event's importance in fostering community engagement and advocating for healthy lifestyles.
Against the backdrop of Tibbetts Brook Park, attendees enjoyed not only the physical benefits of yoga but also the chance to connect with neighbors and friends in a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. The festival embodied our commitment to enhancing the quality of life in Yonkers, promoting wellness initiatives, and strengthening community bonds.
Today I sponsored an event for The Youth & Senior Empowerment Foundation. Congratulations to the founder of the foundation Millie Gutiérrez and her staff and volunteers and we thank them for all that they do in our community!
I exercised my vote and voted in this year's Democratic primary. I urge all constituents to participate in Democracy by voting in the upcoming General Election. The urgency was clear as we mobilized our community to ensure their voices were heard highlighting the impact of every vote in shaping the future of our party.
With the upcoming 4th of July weekend, I urge all our constituents, especially our youth to stay safe, read often, but most importantly, have fun!
I again call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza! I urge all involved parties to engage in negotiations for a lasting peace agreement, which includes the release of all hostages and prisoners. Additionally, it is imperative that the international community promptly addresses the hunger and starvation affecting the population in Gaza. From the start of this conflict, nearly 40,000 have died, 80,000 are injured, and 1.5 million Palestinians have been displaced from their home. |
