This past Fall, President Biden announced that the Federal Government will restart its mail COVID-19 test program. As families congregate for the holidays and we anticipate a seasonal surge in cases, I encourage all New Yorkers to take advantage to request COVID-19 swab tests for free at COVID.gov/tests.
In addition, booster vaccines for the newest COVID-19 variants are now available. These vaccines are an effective tool that can help protect you from COVID-19 and diminish your likelihood from experiencing prolonged illness. This year, the CDC encourages all Americans 6 months of age and older to get the seasonal vaccine alongside the flu vaccine. Vaccines are now available at most local pharmacies and doctors offices. If you do not have insurance or if your insurance does not cover the vaccine, the CDC has also created a bridge program that will allow you to receive it for free at certain pharmacies, community health centers, and clinics. Information about the program can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/programs/bridge/index.html. |
