I’m saddened to learn of Tony Bennett’s passing. Tony was a cultural icon who brought the spirit of New York around the world. Born in Queens to Italian immigrant parents, Tony found his voice and never looked back, becoming one of the defining voices in one of the greatest eras of American Music. Tony was also a World War II veteran who believed deeply in equality, marching alongside Dr. Martin Luther King with Harry Belafonte and Sammy Davis Jr. in Selma in 1965 at a time when it was uncommon for artists to do so. Today, we pay tribute to his illustrious legacy and his Good Life.
