PROTECTING THE HUDSON RIVER: Assembly Will Return To Vote on Bill Which Would Prohibit the Release of Indian Point Wastewater into Hudson River
Legislation Co-Sponsored by Westchester County Assemblyman Nader Sayegh would prohibit radioactive discharges into the waterways of New York State.
The bill was introduced when the company decommissioning the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant on the Hudson said it planned to discharge millions of gallons of radio active water into the river, just miles north of Yonkers.
The bill, A.7208, passed the Senate last week, but did not get a vote in the Assembly before adjourment.
The Assembly will return to the Capitol next week to take up several pieces of legislation, including this bill, that did not come before the chamber for a vote.
