Dear Friends and Neighbors,
On this Memorial Day, the grass is greener, the flowers are in bloom and our City looks beautiful this time of year.
Today is a day to reflect on the wonder that is America, all it represents, and remember those who gave their lives in defense of it.
We also take time to honor the men and women of our Armed Forces currently serving at home and overseas.
I am proud the City of Yonkers takes great pride in paying tribute to its Veterans and recognizing them for their courage and commitment to our nation.
I welcome all residents to attend the many events and ceremonies being held around Yonkers in memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. This morning at 9:00 a.m., the City of Yonkers will hold a special Memorial Day Ceremony at Veterans Memorial Plaza on South Broadway at City Hall.
As you enjoy this day, may you also reflect on what it truly means to live with freedom in the United States of America.
