With negotiations continuing on the proposed New York State Budget, I remain laser focused on State Aid for Yonkers Public Schools. As a member of the Assembly Standing Committee on Education and the Chair on the Subcommittee on Students with Special Needs, I participated in a joint Assembly Senate Hearing at the Capitol on proposed increased State School aid for Education. Additionally, the Legislature's Budget Plan provides funds for a study of changes to State Pubic School Funding Formulas which I have led the fight for since my election to the Assembly in 2018.
To protect store workers from assault, I am co-sponsoring a package of bills to expand penalties for those who assault and kill retail workers and owners. Legislation in this package will also make it harder to sell stolen property and will crack down on serial shoplifters. These legislative proposals will provide our small retail and retail businesses desperately needed support and protections.
