For Immediate Release: November 4, 2022.
YONKERS, NY- Assemblyman Nader Sayegh (D-Yonkers) has announced he has successfully obtained $500,000 in funding to rehabilitate and renovate the playgrounds at Paideia School 15 and the Khalil Gibran School.
Assemblyman Sayegh said: “My tenure in Albany has coincided with the highest funding ever for our Yonkers Public Schools. Today’s announcement is consistent with one of my highest priorities in the Assembly, which is ensuring that our children have the resources to succeed both in the classroom and out. The renovation of these playgrounds will ensure that students and neighborhood children can benefit from the substantive emotional development that playgrounds have to offer. I’m proud to support these projects and look forward to their successful completion in the near future.”
Yonkers Superintendent of Schools Dr. Edwin M. Quezada said: “Assemblyman Nader Sayegh's continuous support and advocacy for Yonkers students and families is appreciated, most importantly, these resources are necessary. These grants join other funding provided by Assemblyman Sayegh to enhance our schools infrastructure, for which he has firsthand knowledge of Yonkers needs. Our District is fortunate to benefit from dynamic collaboration with our elected officials and grateful for these partnerships.”
Assemblyman Sayegh has awarded millions to Yonkers Public Schools during his time in office to support enhancements for our schools, including renovations and improvements to the Lincoln High School Auditorium, the Yonkers Middle High School Arena, and the Roosevelt High School Athletic Field.
Assemblyman Sayegh has also secured funding for civic education programming across the District. Assemblyman Sayegh previously served as a Teacher, Principal, School Board Trustee, and School Board President in Yonkers Public Schools. He is also a parent of five daughters, all who attended and graduated from Yonkers Public Schools.
