Oct 26, 2022 - On Wednesday, October 19th, 2022, at approximately 2:50 AM, members of the Yonkers Police Department responded to an apartment within 32 Vineyard Avenue on a report of a shooting incident. Investigation yielded that shots had been fired, but the disputing parties left the scene prior to police arrival.
Detectives working the case were able to locate the victim, a 33-year-old male resident of Yonkers, had subsequently self-transported himself to a local area trauma center with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his arm. Investigators determined that the victim was allegedly shot by a relative of his domestic partner, and identified the suspect as Nahkeem JANVIER, a 21-year-old resident of Spring Valley; it appears that both men were engaged in a dispute at scene that escalated to violence when JANVIER displayed a handgun and fired at least three shots in the victim’s direction, striking him one time. JANVIER then fled the scene and ultimately the state. Detectives filed and were issued an arrest warrant for JANVIER charging Attempted Murder 2 and unlawful weapon possession.
Yonkers Police investigators, working closely with the Village of Spring Valley Police and the FBI Westchester County Safe Streets Task Force, were able to track JANVIER to the Charlotte, North Carolina area; he was apprehended on October 23rd by the FBI Charlotte Violent Crime Task Force and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, and is now awaiting extradition.
The Yonkers Police would like to thank our partner law enforcement agencies and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office for their assistance in apprehending this suspect.
