Yesterday at City Hall, we had an amazing Hispanic Heritage Month celebration that I am happy to sponsor every year, alongside my colleagues on the Council. We had delicious food donated by 17 different restaurants, great music and musical performances, and a beautiful celebration of the diversity that makes Yonkers a great place to call home.
Thank you to the Yonkers Hispanic Cultural Foundation for lending us their display of Latin American flags, to Carol Chacon of Walking Through Art non-profit organization for her wonderful display of Latin American Art, to our performers (Academia de Mariachi Nuevo Amanecer, Ballet Folklorico Acuarelas Del Perú New York, and Ecuadorian singer Boris Canova) and of course, thank you to our restaurants:
Max’s Restaurant, on Elm Street
Tacos el Poblano
Caridad & Louie’s Restaurant

Plaza Garibaldi
La Pinata Bakery

The Yonkers Hispanic Cultural Foundation held a fundraiser immediately following our event at El Cantito Cafe to benefit the residents of Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Cuba following the recent hurricane in the region. The next fundraiser will be held on Sunday, October 9th from 4-8pm at Don Coqui in White Plains.
Best regards,
