We have come a long way together from March 22, 2020, when all non-essential businesses were ordered closed due to the spread of COVID-19. I successfully fought to get local testing sites and the Mass Vaccination Site at the Yonkers Armory. My office has passed out thousands of free COVID-19 test kits and hand sanitizer bottles. The challenge now is to prepare for a strong fall defense against a virus that has evolved drastically over the last 2½ years and is still killing an average of 400 to 500 people a day in the United States.
So I want to draw your attention to the new Omicron-Variant-Targeting Coronavirus Booster Shots that are now authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration — a move designed to improve protection against severe illness and death during a potential rise in COVID-19 cases this fall and winter. I encourage you to keep up your vaccination status. Even so-called mild cases are no fun, and long lasting "long-haul" health effects still occur. Let's protect our families, friends and neighbors, We Can Do This! |
