Yonkers Insider: Yonkers City Councilwoman Corazon Pineda Issac 2nd District: Yonkers City Council Meetings- May 10, 2022.

 


On May 10, 2022, the Yonkers City Council held an Environmental Policy and Protection Committee Meeting and a City Council Stated meeting. All items on both agendas appear below, as well as the decisions taken by the City Council in regard to these items.
Environmental Policy and Protection Committee Agenda


1.   Local Law amending Chapter 58 of the Code of the City of Yonkers, entitled “Housing and Building Maintenance Code” in regard to indoor asthma allergen hazards in multiple dwellings (Item kept in committee for further discussion)
 
2.   Resolution of the City Council of Yonkers urging the Mayor and the Administration to cooperate with the New York State DEC and any other available resources in order to develop and implement a comprehensive coyote management plan in the City of Yonkers (Moved to Rules Committee Agenda for May 17, 2022)
 
3.   Resolution of the City Council to support adoption of the proposed NY-NJ Watershed Protection Act: H.R. 4677 and its signature into law (Moved to Rules Committee Agenda for May 17, 2022)
 
4.   Resolution of the City Council of Yonkers supporting energy choice and reducing energy costs for Yonkers residents and all New Yorkers by urging the New York State Senate and Assembly to oppose Senate Bill S-6843a, S-8198 and Assembly Bill a-8431, a-9329 that would reduce energy choices and increase energy costs in all of New York State by completely eliminating the use of safe clean natural gas for home heating and cooking. (Item kept in committee for further discussion)

3.General Ordinance amending Chapter 91 of the Code of the COY entitled “Garbage and Refuse” with regard to amending duties to keep sidewalks clear (Adopted 7-0)

4.Special Ordinance authorizing an encroachment in the right-of-way on 244 Woodworth Avenue, subject to certain terms and conditions (Adopted 7-0)

5.Special Ordinance authorizing acceptance of state grant funding from the NYS Division of Homes and Community Renewal in the amount of $2,000,000 and amending the COY grant budget for FY 2021/22 (Adopted 7-0)

6.Resolution – advice and consent to the appointment of Christopher Sapienza as Police Commissioner (Adopted 7-0)

7. Resolution – home rule message for Senate Bill S-9111 and Assembly Bill A-10168 (Adopted 7-0)

8. Resolution approving the sale and designation of St. Clair Development, LLC as qualified and eligible sponsor for the redevelopment of certain property within the Riverview urban renewal area owned by the Yonkers Community Development Agency known as 32 Main Street, 1 Riverdale Avenue and 3 Riverdale Avenue (Held in Committee)

9. Resolution to issue determination of significance pursuant to the SEQRA relating to the proposed discontinuance and conveyance of a portion of Pearl Street.(Adopted 7-0)

10. Resolution approving IMA by and between the COY and the County of Westchester concerning the repository of integrated criminalistics information system (Adopted 7-0)

11. Resolution – settlement between the COY and Roy pilot in the amount of $2,500 plus $25,146 in attorneys’ fees and certain litigation costs (Adopted 7-0)
 
12. Resolution – disposition of certain surplus city property (Adopted 7-0)

13.Resolution calling upon the federal government to take appropriate action to cancel student loan debt and take all available measures to address the student loan debt crisis (Adopted 5-2, with Minority Leader Breen and Councilmember Merante voting no)

14. Resolution to honor the family and community’s request to honorarily rename the portion of Nepperhan Avenue between Odell Avenue and Cross Hill Avenue as “Yonkers Police Officer Harold Woods Way” (Adopted 7-0)

15. Resolution declaring the month of May 2022 “Mental Health Awareness month” (Adopted 7-0)
