With the Assembly not in session due to the religious holidays, I had office hours in Yonkers and met with a number of constituents.
I met with County Legislative Aide Millie Gutierrez and Luis Muniz on issues impacting Yonkers Latino/Hispanic Community with a focus on planning the Annual Hispanic/Puerto Rican Day Parade.
Along with Millie Gutierrez I also met with former Yonkers City Councilman Wilson Terrero with regards to community efforts to promote after school youth programs.
I also had the opportunity to speak with community advocate Claudia Granados of the Carnelian Group and Community Representative Marisol Alcantara of the New York State Nurses Association, regarding community involvement and services.
I spoke about the opportunities offered by on-line College Courses with representatives of Grand Canyon University in Arizona. The meeting was organized by John Falco, to my right, President of the not-for-profit Educators for Student Success. From the University was Bethany Fruhling, Bre Oswald and Natasha Rodriquez, and Robert Spata of Excelsior Educational Consultants.
