Street reconstruction and streets cape improvements were the topic when I met with representatives of the Yonkers South Broadway Improvement District (SBID). At Silvio's Pizza and Restaurant, I met with Silvio DiMeglio, Jessica Gordon and Dennis Monasebian. They are seeking a State grant to accompany City of Yonkers funding for road reconstruction and other improvements because they believe the Yonkers Greenway Rail Trail, which will run adjacent to a portion of South Broadway, is an opportunity to bring more people to the district for dining and entertainment.
Groundworks Hudson Valley is working with the City of Yonkers to create an urban trail for walking, running, and bicycling along a branch of the abandoned Putnam Railroad.
