Yonkers Insider: Yonkers City Council Committee Meetings - February 1, 2022.

 

The Yonkers City Council held an Environmental Policy & Protection Committee meeting, as well as a Rules Committee Meeting, yesterday evening February 1, 2022. All items on both agendas appear below, as well as the decisions taken by the City Council in regard to these items. 

Environmental Policy & Protection Committee Agenda Items: 1.Resolution – Approving an Inter-Municipal Agreement by and between the City of Yonkers and the County of Westchester for Residential Food Scrap Transportation and Disposal Program for Refuse Disposal District #1. (Moved out of Committee, and added to Rules agenda for 2/1/2022)   2.Resolution – To issue a determination of significance pursuant to the State Environmental Quality Review Act relating to the adoption of the 2020 Westchester County Hazard Mitigation Plan Update. (Moved out of Committee, and added to Rules agenda for 2/1/2022)   3.Resolution – Authorizing the adoption of the 2022 Westchester County Hazard Mitigation Plan Update. (Moved out of Committee, and added to Rules agenda for 2/1/2022)   4.Discussion – Sustainable Westchester’s Regional Sustainability Hub Program (Paul Presendieu) (Discussion on current rollout of new program in Yonkers, which takes effect in March 2022)   5.Discussion – Summer Youth Environmental Education Program (Marvin Church) (Discussion on program to be considered for future implementation in the City of Yonkers) Rules Committee Committee: Items for Consideration by Administration 1. Special Ordinance – Amending the budget for the City of Yonkers for the 2021/22 Fiscal Year in relation to transferring funds from and to various accounts for the Stipulation of Agreement with the Firefighters Union, Local 628. (Neutral Fiscal Impact.) (All Councilmembers.) Joint Budget/Labor Committee meeting to be held before next Council Meeting of February 8, 2022. Item to appear on Stated Council Meeting agenda for February 8, 2022) 2. Resolution – Approving an agreement between the City of Yonkers and Yonkers Firefighters, Local 628, IAFF, AFL-CIO. (Negative Fiscal Impact.) (All Councilmembers.) Joint Budget/Labor Committee meeting to be held before next Council Meeting of February 8, 2022. Item to appear on Stated Council Meeting agenda for February 8, 2022) 3. Resolution – Consenting to the appointment of Dr. James Hassell as a member to the Yonkers Community Development Agency. (No Fiscal Impact.) (All Councilmembers.) (Dr. James Hassell to be invited to next Rules Committee meeting of February 15, 2022) 4. Resolution – Approving one (1) Inter-Municipal Agreement by and between the City of Yonkers and County of Westchester to accept CSE Transportation Service PY 2021-22 Grant Funding. (Positive Fiscal Impact.) (All Councilmembers.) (Moved to Municipal Operations & Public Safety Committee for further discussion) 5. Resolution - Finding that the Action to Transfer 66 Pier Street to the City of Yonkers Industrial Development Agency for the Purpose of Developing Housing, Open Space, and Public Parking Improvements will Not Have a Significant adverse Impact on the Environment. (Positive Fiscal Impact.) Local Law - Authorizing the Sale of City-Owned Property at 66 Pier Street to the City of Yonkers Industrial Development Agency for the Development of Housing, Open Space, and Public Parking Improvements. (No Fiscal Impact.) Resolution by the City Council of Yonkers Proclaiming and Recognizing February 4, 2022 as “Go Red Day” in support of Women’s Heart Health Month throughout the City of Yonkers (Moved to Stated Council meeting agenda for February 8, 2022) 4. Resolution by the City Council of Yonkers Proclaiming and Recognizing February 4, 2022 as “World Cancer Day” throughout the City of Yonkers. (Moved to Stated Council meeting agenda for February 8, 2022) 5. RESOLUTION TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND HELP RESOLVE THE ADMINISTRATIVE ISSUES SURROUNDING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE SUSTAINABLE WESTCHESTER ENERGY PROVIDER CHOICE PROGRAM AS IT RELATES TO THE PUBLIC’S ENROLLMENT AND ABILITY TO OPT OUT OF THE PROGRAM BEFORE AND AFTER FEBRAURY 4, 2022  (Moved to Environmental Policy & Protection Committee for further discussion) I encourage Yonkers city residents to keep up with these items to stay current on what is happening in our city!
