Today we celebrated the 178th anniversary of the Dominican Republic's Independence at Yonkers City Hall. Despite a rough start to the day in terms of weather conditions, our DPW team worked hard to ensure our roads were clear, and as a result, we had a great turnout for our event. We had live music, traditional Dominican appetizers and beverages, and of course cupcakes from La Piñata Bakery. Although the covid-19 pandemic is not completely behind us, it was nice to be able to get together in-person. Things are slowly but surely getting back to normal. Being of Dominican descent, I am especially proud to co-sponsor this annual flag raising with Mayor Mike Spano and the Yonkers City Council. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible, including all the attendees who didn't let a little cold weather stop our annual festivities.
Yonkers City Councilwoman Corazon Pineda Issac 2nd District.
