On Tuesday, December 14, I attended the Y-Zone presser to discuss the brand new community broad band pilot program based in Yonkers. The Y-Zone is a digital opportunity zone that provides free internet access to hundreds of families who apply in the Yonkers downtown area - up to 1,000 people - by utilizing citizen broadband radio service spectrum. Those who choose to take a 15 hour technology course also qualify for a free laptop!
This program was first launched in April 2021, and aims to bridge the opportunity gap and create a brighter future for our residents.
Yonkers City Councilman John Rubbo 4th District.
