Dear Friends,
The recent rise in New York’s COVID-19 cases is cause for concern. We must continue to take precautions and redouble our efforts to reach those who are eligible and willing to get vaccinated. If you have not yet gotten vaccinated, I encourage you to do so. More information on how to schedule an appointment is available below.
Last week, I was proud that my Youth Advisory Council organized a college fair at the New Rochelle Public Library with five colleges! It was the first time many of the colleges had been to a college fair since the start of the pandemic, and a great initial exposure to college opportunities for our high school students and their families.
I was also in Albany to hear important testimony at the Senate's public hearing concerning the workforce in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and home care. We heard from institutional leaders, caregivers, and advocates with first hand experience concerning the challenges they face — including turnover, benefits and job training.
In other important news, on August 9th, the Senate Elections Committee will hold a public hearing in Westchester on voting and elections issues. If you are interested in sharing your voting experience, more information is available below.
As always, if there is anything my office can assist you with, please don’t hesitate to email me at smayer@nysenate.gov or call (914) 934-5250.
Warm regards, |
