As I have walked District 15 meeting residents in different areas many of them have brought to my attention the alarming spike in blackouts that have been occurring. Residents have been informing me that they are happening more then before and that also they have noticed a spike in their Con Edison bill. I tell the residents that since the one party rule Westchester County Legislator Board and Environmental Chair (my opponent) advocated for the closure of Indian Point that Yonkers has lost 2 gigawatts of power, NYC lost 25% of their power source. Since the closure they haven’t replaced the energy sources which puts a strain on what we do have in place. Yonkers losing 2 kilowatts of power is dangerous especially during the hot days of the summer or the cold days in the winter causing overuse. Con Edison also is upping the charges for all customers to take advantage of the situation. The current Westchester County one party rule Legislator Board isn’t telling their residents how they want to allow Con Edison to build dangerous hub stations throughout Yonkers which we can not afford. Residents of Yonkers should not have live with hub stations built in their neighborhoods or stuck with the bill. Indian point produced natural energy which we have now lost along with the closure many union members were also laid off during the pandemic (my opponent is the co-chair of the county labor board). The Westchester County Legislator Board one party rule only cares about their agenda, your votes, and taking what’s in your pockets NOT the people. At this rate right now property taxes will go up next year, they didn’t this year, but last year they approved property taxes to go up 6%. Municipalities around the Indian Point facility have also lost funding from the closure such as the fire department, schools, and programs. Dangerous hub stations shouldn’t be built, jobs shouldn’t have been lost, and the cost of living shouldn’t increase the misspending must end. When elected Westchester County Legislator for District 15 I will advocate to make sure that Westchester County is safer, cleaner, and more affordable once again! #nolan4countylegislatordiatrict15 #imrollingwithnolan #westchesterdistrict15 #takebackthe15th #westchester #LeadRight #conservative #bronxville #Republican #yonkers
