Statement from County Legislator Jose Alvarado on Riverside Park in Southwest Yonkers.
Stands with County Executive George Latimer and Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano
Today, County Legislator Jose Alvarado stood with County Executive George Latimer and Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano to call for more green space for the residents of Southwest Yonkers.
County Legislator Alvarado comments: "I am delighted to be joined by Mayor Mike Spano and County Executive George Latimer in my efforts to reclaim neglected land and transform it into a waterfront park. Now, working together with Mayor Spano with his plan for adjacent park space, we can create a much-needed and continued green space on the Hudson for the benefit of the community and the river ecology. "
The Ludlow Park community has been without a local park for years now, and County Legislator Alvarado has made more green space for the residents of Southwest Yonkers a major legislative priority. Alvarado has already secured $10 million to begin construction on the riverside park and will join efforts with Mayor Spano to expand the green space.
