Earlier this week, the State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation held two public information meetings regarding planned improvements to Philipse Manor Hall in downtown Yonkers. The proposed planned improvements, including new exhibits, interior and exterior restoration work and accessibility improvements, are expected to make the facility more welcoming to visitors and expand the range of history presented at the Colonial era mansion. This will include expanded exhibits for the site that incorporate African American and Indigenous people’s histories from the region, while preserving the known history of the Philipse family.
