Dear Friends and Neighbors,
The holy month of Ramadan, which began on Monday, April 12, is a time of spiritual reflection for Muslims in Westchester and around the world.
It is also a time for forgiveness and charity.
Whether we are observers or not, this is a good time to reflect on the values of forgiveness and charity, especially when so many are suffering from the economic, physical and mental strains of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic will require not just the efforts of science and government, but also our individual and collective efforts in our communities, reaching out when we can to lend a hand to those in need. It also requires the patience and open-heartedness to forgive one another, knowing that we are each under unprecedented strain, and the humility to ask for forgiveness for our own mistakes.
Our strength and resilience comes from our ability to recognize in one another a common humanity, and to give support to all who need it.
To all who observe, I hope this Ramadan will bring you peace and joy, harmony and happiness, spiritual strength and hope.
Yours truly,
