Greenburgh Insider: Greenburgh Town Board votes for honorary street naming honoring Kevin Morgan.

The Town Board is honoring the memory of former Councilman Kevin Morgan who also served as a Detective in the police department and was very involved in the community. He grew up on Babbitt Court

The Greenburgh Town Board unanimously approved a resolution at our April 28th Town Board meeting authorizing the  honorary commemorative street naming of Babbitt Court, at the intersection of Saw Mill River Road, as Kevin Morgan Way,  A dedication ceremony at Babbitt Court will be held on May 20th at 6 PM. May 20th would have been Kevin's 65th birthday.

Kevin, who passed away two years ago, served on the Greenburgh Town Board after being elected a Councilman in 2007 and served on the Board  until his passing in 2019. He was extremely well liked.  Kevin was a police officer from 1977 to 1998 and became a Detective. He received many commendations and awards. And, always advocated for the police during his tenure as a Town Board member.

Kevin  served as an investigator for the Legal Aid Society. Kevin spent years as a Board member of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and was named the group's man of the year" for his fundraising efforts in 2011. Kevin was involved with the Elmsford Rotary Club, Elmsford Little League and worked hard for improved infrastructure, parks and the nature center.

Calling Babbitt Court (the street that Kevin grew up in) Kevin Morgan way is very appropriate because Kevin worked tirelessly to bring people together. He cared deeply about all the employees in the town and also was a friend to anyone who needed help. If a senior needed their driveway shoveled Kevin went to their home and cleared the driveway for them. If they needed a ride to the airport- Kevin drove them. He cared.  Every time I will pass Kevin Morgan Way I will think about Kevin and how he would respond to the issues of the day. He is most deserving of this honor.

Greenburgh Town Supervisor
