YONKERS PROTEST: Former Yonkers Public Schools Teacher #WendyValdez's, Religious Leaders And Supports Will Be Staging A Protesting At At César Chavez Public School, Because She Says That She Lost Her Teaching Position Over Her Insistence On Wearing A Face Mask That Says, "I Love Jesus “ BACKGROUND: Teacher Wendy Valdez wished to peacefully share her Christian views with her schoolmates by wearing a mask with the message, “Jesus Loves Me” printed on it, but the principal at her school required her to remove and replace it. Ms. Valdez refused and was relieved of her classroom duties. Ms, Valdez contends that she wore the mask without disruption or incident. Ms, Valdez and her supporters argue that #Yonkers Public School officials can’t pick and choose which messages students are allowed to express and which they aren’t. They further argue that the school can’t single out religious speech for worse treatment than other types of speech.
